Whirlpool refrigerators are manufactured and marketed by Whirlpool Corp. An American multinational founded more than 100 years ago in 1911. The company initially started with washer machines and later on after World War 2 in 1950 expanded to refrigerators.
The company merged with Seeger Refrigeration Company, to enter in the refrigerator industry. Later in 1955, the company acquired Seeger Company and changed its name to Whirlpool. The company set down its plant in India, forming a joint venture with TVS group in Pondicherry. Later in 1995, Whirlpool took over Kelvinator India Ltd and entered in Indian refrigerator market.
In May 2011, the American refrigerator brand launched its Protton World Series in the frost free segment. Under this series company introduced a total of 22 models in 2- door and 3- door formats. These 22 models come in sizes from 220 liter to 480 liters. Protton World series refrigerators features and functions include Air Booster System (ABS) to offers just the right temperature needed for Frozen Food, Cooked Food and Fresh Vegetables & Fruits.
