Sony mobile phones are a part of Sony Mobile Communications Inc. (formerly Sony Ericsson), Japanese multinational, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Initially formed as joint venture of Sony and the Swedish telecommunications equipment company Ericsson. Later in 2012, Sony acquired market shares of Ericsson.
The first of the Walkman phones capable of 30 hours of music playback was Sony Ericsson W800i, and two low-end phones in 2005. The company released its first smartphone with 5- megapixel camera in 2007 named Ericsson K850i, after this it rolled- out its first mobile phone with an 8- megapixel rear camera. As this Japanese brand is famous for its camera quality, it unveiled its first device with a 12- MP camera in 2009 named as Satio.
From 2012, Sony announced to launch its all devices under company’s Xperia series introduced in 2008 with Xperia X1 running on Microsoft’s Windows OS. In 2010, the brand shifting gears to Android devices with first device running on Google’s OS Xperia X10.
Sony introduced its Xperia Z smartphone line up, 2015 Xperia Z3+ was launched with improved internal features and similar body design as of Z3. Later in 2015, the company introduced its Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact as its flagship device.
